USD/CHF Technical Analysis

The technical analysis of the USDCHF price chart on 4-hour timeframe shows USDCHF,H4 is retracing down under the 200-period moving average MA(200) after rebounding to two-week high five days ago. We believe the bearish momentum will continue after the price breaches below the lower bound of Donchian channel at 0.89528. A level below this can be used as an entry point for placing a pending order to sell. The stop loss can be placed above 0.90196. After placing the order, the stop loss is to be moved to the next fractal high indicator, following Parabolic signals. Thus, we are changing the expected profit/loss ratio to the breakeven point. If the price meets the stop loss level without reaching the order, we recommend cancelling the order: the market has undergone internal changes which were not taken into account.

Fundamental Analysis of Forex - USD/CHF

Switzerland’s trade surplus declined in January. Will the USDCHF price retreating reverse?

Switzerland’s trade surplus was smaller in January. The Federal Statistical Office reported Switzerland's trade surplus narrowed to 4.0 billion Swiss francs in January from 4.4 billion in December 2024. Imports fell 6.8% over month to 18.7 billion Swiss francs, driven by lower purchases of chemical and pharmaceutical products (-19.5%), vehicles (-5%), machinery and electronics (-2.1%). Meanwhile, exports dropped at a slightly faster pace, falling 6.9% to 22.7 billion Swiss francs, as a result of weaker sales of chemical and pharmaceutical products (-12.5%), paper and graphic products (-7.3%), precision instruments (-0.4%), and vehicles (-0.3%).This is bullish for USDCHF price. Among trading partners, demand fell most notably from Slovenia (-35.1%), China (-30%), and Austria (-22.8%). Declining Swiss trade surplus is bearish for Swiss franc and bullish for USDCHF currency pair. However, the current setup is bearish for the pair.
